STUDY ABROAD

Loreto International Learning Project

Spring 2026

Help Ventura College students experience transformational global learning in Ventura's sister city, Loreto, Mexico!

Loreto, Mexico offers an incredible learning environment where vibrant marine ecosystems meet rich cultural history. Students will explore biodiversity and examine community life in one of Baja's oldest towns- making it an ideal setting for students taking biology and sociology courses.

Ventura College's first ever study abroad program will prepare students for the workforce with an immersive learning experience that blends sociological and biological perspectives. Students will engage with diverse cultural and ecological environments, apply classroom knowledge to real-world settings, and develop essential logic and problem-solving skills as they navigate in new environments. This opportunity for hands-on experience will allow them to learn and apply socio-cultural information in real-life contexts.

Your gift helps each student:

  • Earn seven units of transferable general education credits
  • Conduct field research in Loreto’s vibrant marine and desert ecosystems
  • Build global awareness, cultural humility, and environmental stewardship
  • Develop critical skills in adaptability, collaboration, and cross-cultural communication
  • Represent Ventura College with pride in an international context

"For many of our students, particularly those who are first-generation college students or come from low-income backgrounds, traveling abroad is simply out of reach. This is more than just a trip-it's an investment in leadership, academic excellence, and equity in global learning. With your help, we can empower Ventura College students to engage with the world beyond the classroom and return transformed."
