Since 1983, the Ventura College Foundation has been committed to removing financial barriers so Ventura College students can pursue their educational dreams. Over the years, the Foundation has raised over $57 million for Ventura College and its students, but we aren’t done yet.
The Ventura College Foundation began the first Promise Program in California in 2007, which ensures eligible students receive 2 years of college tuition free. The program was so successful, it became the blueprint for the statewide Promise. In 2024-25 alone, the foundation provided $158,000 in gap funding to the VC Promise in the face of statewide budget cuts, which served over 4,000 Ventura College students.
The Ventura College Foundation also supports the Basic Needs Centers which provide snacks, groceries, housing referrals, mental health services, and many other essential services. Sixty-three percent of Ventura College students are low or extremely low-income, while fifty five percent do not know where their next meal will come from. The support offered by the Basic Needs Centers allows students to dedicate themselves to their studies without the fear of going to bed hungry, or wondering where they will to sleep at night.
The Ventura College Foundation Board of Directors recognizes the connection between scholastic achievement and the overall well-being of each student. This is why the VC Foundation has decided to increase our commitment to support the vital programs that keep our students on track to graduate.

Share a Memory
Whether you are staff, retired, a former board member, a student, or an alumni find an old photo, tell us who you are, and write a few lines about your time at Ventura College. How has Ventura College or the Ventura College Foundation impacted, influenced, or changed your life or the life of someone you know? What type of support have you received from the VC Foundation while at Ventura College? Do you have any old photos of the Foundation, like pictures of scholarship awards, former board members, or graduates who benefitted from a scholarship?
The collected remembrances may be added to the College's official archives.
We’d love for you to become part of the VC Foundation's and Ventura College’s history by sharing a little of yours.
Volunteer
Do you enjoy working as a team, interacting with the public and being a part of something inspiring? If you answered yes to any of these questions, than being a special event volunteer is the role for you!
We need volunteers to assist with:
- Pre-event tasks in the VC Foundation office (name tags, stuffing, folding, etc.)
- Setting up and tear down of events
- Day of event support during the Celebration of Success
