Spring 2020 Scholarship Awards
The Ventura College Foundation is excited to share that 427 scholarships were awarded to Ventura College Students amounting to $683,747 in support - the largest annual scholarship distribution in the history of the organization.
We are proud to celebrate the extraordinary achievements of Ventura College and honor and thank the individuals who make these scholarships possible.
2020 SCHOLARSHIP AWARD PROGRAM

00:10 Board of Directors for awarding me with
00:12 the Paul and Bessie Carter nursing
00:13 scholarship the scholarship means a
00:15 great deal to me because it helps reduce
00:17 a financial strain of my education and
00:19 helps me keep my focus and be successful
00:21 in my studies I am very proud to
00:24 announce that I will be graduating the
00:26 Ventura College Nursing program this
00:28 spring 2020 this is a huge
00:30 accomplishment not only for myself but
00:31 for my family as well my 12 year old
00:34 daughter has been able to witness my
00:36 whole educational journey and it has
00:38 inspired and motivated her to pursue her
00:40 own she tells me that she too will be a
00:43 Ventura college graduate someday soon
00:45 I'm excited to use my registered nurse
00:48 license to provide quality health care
00:50 to my community I also have plans on
00:53 advancing my education to better serve
00:55 my community and those around me I know
00:58 that none of this would have been
00:59 possible without the support and

00:27 back-to-school journey a year ago I
00:29 never would have imagined that we would
00:31 be in this position and transitioning to
00:34 school online has definitely been a big
00:36 adjustment but I'm still working hard
00:39 and trying to stay on track your
00:42 scholarship has given me so much peace
00:44 of mind for this upcoming school year

00:06 Hi we're the Heatons, I'm Cody. And I'm Anna we just
00:10 wanted to take the time to thank the
00:12 Ventura College Foundation along with
00:14 our donors for the scholarships we were
00:16 awarded I myself was awarded the Nelson
00:18 Family Veteran's scholarship awarded in
00:20 memory of April Nelson along with the
00:22 Veterans Appreciation scholarship and I
00:25 was awarded the VC Foundation Veteran
00:27 Scholarship the Veterans Appreciation
00:28 scholarship in the California Resources
00:31 Corporation that are in student
00:32 scholarship
00:33 Cody and I both met what we were an
00:35 active-duty service in the Navy
00:36 and I am now a veteran and full-time
00:38 student I will be transferring to UC
00:41 Davis in the fall and will be the first
00:42 to my family to attend a university
00:44 after I plan on earning a bachelor's
00:47 degree in biochemistry and then later
00:48 applying to medical school and I am
00:51 still active duty with only two weeks
00:53 left until I'm a veteran I am going to
00:56 school part-time right now and I plan to
00:58 go full-time after I get out with the
01:01 hopes to finish my bachelor's degree and
01:04 get into a physical therapy program in
01:06 the future we are so thankful for the
01:09 donors and our scholarship as it just
01:11 helps pave the way for our success it
01:13 alleviates some of the financial burden
01:15 that comes with obtaining a higher
01:16 education and allows us to solely focus
01:19 on school and obtain our degrees we're
01:22 also excited for our future as veterans
01:24 and full-time students and we are very
01:26 very grateful for your support

00:08 hello my name is Nicole Allen and I am
00:11 so happy to have received the American
00:13 Legion Post 339 scholarship it's allowed
00:16 me to focus more on my education as well
00:18 as how I can become a champion teacher
00:20 and less about worrying about the
00:22 financial details of my tuition I
00:24 learned that I was the recipient of the
00:26 scholarship immediately after conducting
00:28 a reenlistment ceremony for one of my
00:30 shipmates and my 14 year old son was in
00:32 the audience he read the email to mean
00:35 its entirety and it was the perfect
00:37 moment of pride patriotism and a lesson
00:41 for him on how hard work and
00:42 determination can be so rewarding thank

00:09 I've done this I wanted to thank the
00:11 Rotary Club of Oxnard Sunrise for the
00:14 Rotary Club of Oxnard Sunrise scholarship
00:16 thanks to you I'm gonna be able to go to
00:20 school in the fall I was really worried
00:21 because Covid-19 it has really impacted
00:24 my family and I wasn't sure if I
00:27 qualified for unemployment or if I was
00:29 gonna be able to afford going to school
00:30 in the fall but they see I'm going to be
00:32 into my CNA program and after that I'm
00:35 going to be applying to universities and
00:38 programs of course I Interior college
00:40 Moorpark College to see if I qualify or
00:43 get into the nursing program but thanks
00:45 to you I'm gonna be able to fund my
